FIRST EDITION IDENTIFIERS:
Metropolitan published this
book on May 15, 1931. The boards are a
maroon color and the lettering is a pale
green. The dust jacket and frontispiece
were illustrated by Hugh Hutton.
As is the case with a few
other Burroughs' books, Grosset
& Dunlap purchased excess first
editions and published them with their
name on the spine and dust jacket,
however, the title page has "Metropolitan"
on it. This second later offering is
referred to as a "mixed edition". The
lettering on the spine and cover is in
black, not the pale green of the first
edition.
In 1948 Burroughs, Inc.
published this title as well. The book has
tan covers and dark red lettering.
