FIRST EDITION IDENTIFIERS:

A.C. McClurg & Co. Published this book just one time, Sep. 5, 1922, so any book of this title with A.C. McClurg on the spine is a first edition. The book is red and has black lettering. The the dust jacket and four interior plates were illustrated by J. Allen St. John. A total of 10,000 copies were printed.

Early reprints by Grosset & Dunlap can be a cause for confusion as the copyright page is identical to the 1st edition, though the title page is different.
